The Best Chaga in My Coffee

At first glance, mushrooms and coffee may seem like a strange combination. But before you turn up your nose, you should know that medicinal mushrooms are a big trend these days because they are little powerhouses of nutrition. Rishi, Codices, and Chaga are the most common, but Chaga is my favorite in a cup of coffee.

Adding just a little bit of these medicinal mushrooms into your daily diet can generate big health perks. They are vegan and virtually tasteless, so they can be added to anything. Do note, some may have a slightly bitter taste; a common opinion is that the healthier the mushroom the more bitter the taste.

Chaga plays an important role in your morning coffee. There is some evidence that daily consumption of coffee may wreak havoc on your adrenal glands and its acidity could be having negative effects on your stomach and stomach lining. With that said, coffee is a hard habit to give up, and the research just isn’t enough to convince millions of people—honestly, I am one of them.

Enter Chaga. Chaga has been shown to counteract the acidic effects of coffee and reduce its impact on your stomach and adrenals. But it’s a hard combination to get over—mushrooms in your coffee?!? When a friend suggested it, I thought she had lost her marbles. But I gave her recipe a try, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Here is how I add Chaga to my coffee to help improve my stomach functions, boost my energy, and enhance my brain and energy levels too.

  • 1 cup of hot water

  • Splash of almond milk

  • Vanilla flavored liquid stevia-a splash

  • One packet of mushroom coffee

Heat the water to just boiling, then reduce to a simmer. Stir in the packet of coffee. Add the almond milk and stevia to taste, and enjoy! Stout coffees can be very hard on your stomach. A simple, light, and frothy coffee is a perfect morning wake-up to get my day going right. Even better, I no longer experience the adrenal fatigue or adrenaline rush, thanks to my Chaga!
