Valentine's Rose Cordial by Dr. LuLu Shimek
Valentine's Rose Cordial
It's the month of love and affection and we have dreamed up this dreamy cordial you can make for a Valentine's Gift. A cordial isa distilled alcohol which has been infused with plants - also referred to a a liqueur.
Steep the most fragrant fresh roses you can find in vodka. Pack the jar very tight, as the petals are made mostly of water. Let it sit for 2 weeks, strain and use the same alcohol and repeat the process. Let it sit for 2 weeks and repeat the process one more time, Let it sit for 4-6 weeks and strain and add sugar syrup to taste. An excellent valentine's gift. It's like drinking roses on a warm summer day.
Note: To make sugar syrup, combine equal parts sweetener and water in a saucepan (less of using honey, since honey is 2x as sweet as sugar). Boil until the sugar dissolves. Combine 2 parts infused alcohol with 1 part sugar syrup - alter according to your taste. Pour into a clean jar for storage.
